Some have also charged Forbes with whitewashing, highlighting the debt contemporary pop music owes to BIPOC performers like The Weeknd. 

The singer’s close ties to his Spanish heritage were emphasized in the Forbes interview with Bad Bunny for the special edition. On December 24, 2018, Bad Bunny released X 100 Pre, his debut studio album. 

The diamond-certified record is still his best-selling album to date, peaking at number 11 on the Spanish and Billboard 200 album charts. 

The rapper and J Balvin worked together to release the album Oasis on June 28, 2019, following his debut. On the Billboard 200 album chart, the album peaked at number nine.
