Brit Marling Knows Whodunit

The actress and writer of mystical sci-fi like The OA returns with something fleshier: a murder-mystery series. Photo: Chantal Anderson Brit Marling has spent her career both co-writing and starring in projects that are grounded in reality yet shockingly metaphysical: an indie thriller about a cult leader and possible time traveler who lives in a basement (Sound of My Voice); a film about a convicted felon who applies to live on a duplicate version of our planet (Another Earth); a dreamy series about a blind woman who disappears for seven years and reemerges with the ability to see, the conviction that she is a kind of angel, and knowledge of a series of “movements” that induce interdimensional travel (The OA).
It’s tricyclers versus triceratops in Sesame Street’s latest direct-to-DVD title. Elmo hosts this sharp, 40-minute show that introduces kids to scaly legends — explaining where they lived, what they ate — and even transforms Elmo, Telly, and Abby into extinct tap dancers for the almost too catchy song-and-dance number called “Doing the Dinosaur.” Twice as expansive as the slightly spotty Elmo’s World: Opposites and with a tighter script than the Elmo’s World: Pets, it’s a must-see … if you’re under 4.
From Taylor Swift's girl squad to Nasty Gal founder Sophie Amoruso coining the hashtag #girlboss, it's clear that when it comes to entrepreneurship, it's not a man's world anymore.
Indeed, recent research by BNP Paribas Wealth Management found that companies helmed by women actually produced 13 per cent higher revenues than those run by men, and finished nine per cent above average.
From fashion legend Anna Wintour to Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, there's an increasing number of women proving you can be financially independent and successful on your own terms.

Drama filmsReviewThor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi’s early paean to the strength and resilience of kids is tender and funny
Now that New Zealand’s Taika Waititi has hit the big league directing Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, his second film, 2010’s Maori coming-of-age comedy Boy, is finally released in the UK. It’s a disarmingly lovely, big-hearted film, and hilarious in places.
Like Waititi’s 2016 indie hit Hunt for the Wilderpeople, it’s a paean to the strength and resilience of kids, though in its raw and less polished way it’s a little less corny.
If you've got it, flaunt it!
Kesha took some time to relax in Palm Springs over the weekend, where she was able to catch some UV rays in an itty-bitty bikini. The "Tik Tok" singer snapped a selfie of her black swimsuit that barely covered her breasts and captioned the pic, "Well. Hmm. That don't fit huh."
The songstress obviously had a sense of humor about her too-small bathing suit, but that didn't stop her from wearing it!
Redeem now Meghan McCain, daughter of 2008 Presidential candidate John McCain, tweeted about her "spontaneous night in..." and linked to the above image about 17 hours ago. The re-tweets haven't stopped since, and now even the Wall Street Journal is getting in on the coverage.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
The photo shows Ms. McCain in a tanktop, holding a copy of Andy Warhol’s biography, and her accompanying tweet referred to her “’spontaneous’ night in.

Stanley Tucci transforms into Clive Davis for the biopic about Whitney Houston's life, but taking on the role of the famous music executive was somewhat of a nerve-racking task for the seasoned actor.
ET's Rachel Smith spoke with Tucci at the I Wanna Dance With Somebody premiere in New York on Tuesday, where he shared how Davis helped make the portrayal a little easier for him.
"It made me a little nervous," Tucci said of taking on the role of Davis, who also serves as a producer on the film.
If you walked past 1313 L St. in Washington, D.C., a few years ago, you would've seen a 1980s-style office building. The headquarters for the National Association for the Education of Young Children was red brick, with big windows and the organization's logo plastered across the side. But if you walk by the same spot this time next year, you could be looking at a newly finished apartment building with sleek gray siding and a rooftop patio.
