No One Ever Expected Trish Stratus Recalls the Time When Vince McMahonPurposely Changed t

Trish Stratus recently revealed a discussion with Vince McMahon before WrestleMania 20 that drastically changed her character. McMahon has been in the ways of many wrestlers before. Although Stratus followed through with the change, probably somewhere deep inside she still might have second thoughts about it.

The change that she talked about was regarding her in-ring character at WrestleMania 20 when she turned heel and sided with Christian During his match against Chris Jericho. This change eventually led to some fans being upset. In fact, it was so sudden and uncalled for that even the wrestler herself had trouble believing in her ears.

What was Vince McMahon’s original plan?

Vince McMahon is known to push his ideas forward and not care about his fans. However, this time around, things were different. As a leading sports entertainment company owner, McMahon wanted his fans to get the best of ‘entertainment’. This, at the time, led to him making shocking decisions that everyone didn’t appreciate.

When Trish Stratus recently appeared on the ‘Getting Over’ podcast, she recalled this one time with McMahon before Chris Jericho’s WrestleMania 20 bout with Christian. McMahon had other things planned for Stratus when it initially appeared that she was going to stay with Jericho but then turned heel at the event

Fans wanted it so bad, he thought no one ever expected me to turn,” explained Stratus on WrestleMania 20’s unexpected event.

All the fans from WrestleMania 20 would remember their ultimate wish. The build-up between Jericho and Stratus was so strong that everybody had expected the two wrestlers finally to be together. She even further added that “the whole beginning of the storyline was for Chris Jericho and me to end up together and we were going to be Trishtopher, and we were this quirky Canadian comedy duo, which people get annoyed with but find endearing. That was supposed to be the whole thing.

The change that Vince McMahon had them follow through

Since there was so much anticipation for it, McMahon didn’t want the event to be so obvious. He stored different plans in his mind as the date kept on approaching. Stratus recalled how McMahon came to the members that were supposed to be in the sequence the night of the event and said, “‘I think we’re going to change things up.”

McMahon then went on to pull the strings in a polar opposite direction into which they were supposed to be. To this day, there is some appreciation for the plot twist while some fans didn’t like Stratus leaving Jericho heartbroken like that.
